Older Rooster Attacking

Hi. Im new to the chicken world. Like really new. I rescued this rooster (a Delaware) with a bad leg. We ended up with 6 hens as well. All has been great for sometime. Ive been enjoying having the chickens. We built a super pen an big, a big hen house, my husband is building a roof over everything, its fun. They are out all day free range. I love getting my fresh eggs every day and the hens are so fun to watch. The rooster has done well with his hens and tries his best to keep up with them. His leg keeps him from moving around as much as they do and they spread out a frequently (which kind of makes him crazy). Other than that its been great. Except suddenly today he came after me. I mean really came after me. Like kept chasing me for about 50 feet. I shouldnt have run, but it really caught me off guard. I turned around and made him get away from me, but he held his ground. have no idea why he did it. He only had two hens any around him and they we not even close. It was so random. Can someone

Just guessing but rescue was related to his history of being aggressive. You could invest effort in managing the aggression but I would not attempt unless you are patient, tough and have a an open mind. Otherwise swap him out.
