Olive Egger Question...

Can Marans Roo Ameraucana mix produce Olive egg laying hens? I read the Roo has to be the blue egg layer. Is tha true?

If the Ameraucana hen carries two copies of the gene for blue eggs all the pullets from a mating to a Marans roo will have one copy for blue and lay olive [ or at least green ] and all the cockerals from that cross will be carrying one copy of the blue gene plus the genetics needed for olive .
