Hi...
I'm new to olive eggers and have a sexing question about second generation chicks...
Last season I crossed my French Wheaten Marans rooster over a few of my araucana (black and lavender) and ended up with 4 black pullets - all bearded with a little copper leakage around the neck and combs mostly resembled the araucana...
Theyve started laying lovely olive eggs...
So now I've crossed another French Wheaten Marans rooster these olive eggers (Second generation) and the chicks are coming out about 1/3 black chicks (like last season)... and 2/3 of the chicks resemble the FWM chicks (hatch out yellow and after a couple of weeks some feather up Very dark and others feather up Wheaten colour)... each type pictured below...
So my question is... can I sex these similar to the FW Marans... of the 2/3 hatching out with yellow down are the ones feathering up with the dark feathers roosters (similar to pure FW Marans)...?
