Olive eggers lay white eggs?

I have a two year old Mystic onyx that was supposed to lay greenish eggs, but she lays a creamish color. is there some kind of special feed you give them? I have an Easter egger (Welsummer) that lays brown. Do Easter eggers lay different colors each day? That's what I heard. Is there anything I can do to get colorful eggs?

Add some more birds. Be careful as to breed. Some EE will give you a greenish egg. Color depends on the genetics, not food. The color they produce is determined by the individual birds. Quite a bit of variance in individual birds.

You're not getting colored eggs because it doesn't sound like any of your chickens are EEs. Welsummers are not EES. They lay dark brown eggs. I'm unsure of what color eggs Mystic Onyx lay, but I don't think they are colored eggers. EES do not lay different colors every day. They color egg they lay depends on the individual.

Unless you are getting a bantam EE, no.

Easter Eggers are mixed breeds. Some lay brown eggs, some lay blue, and some lay greenish eggs.

Olive Eggers are also mixes and are a cross between a brown egg-layer and a blue egg-layer.

If you are getting a random bantam it is very slim you are getting an EE. Most bantam breeds lay white or brown eggs. It just depends on the breed and genetics.

An Easter Egger is a chicken that has been crossed with an Ameraucana, Araucana, Cream Legbar or some other blue egg laying breed somewhere down the line. They are crosses, not pure (or even an official breed in some cases). Appearance varies quite a bit but most commonly have muffs, olive legs, and pea combs. Others have single combs, crests, yellow legs, and any other chicken feature. They also come in almost every chicken color there is. Egg colors vary from blues, to greens, to pinks, to reds, to browns. Egg colors do not come from some special feed, housing, or anything else. It all depends on the genetics. Chickens will lay the same color egg its entire life (shade my change over time).

If you want colored eggs (blue/green), you'd need to get an actual Easter Egger, Ameraucana, Cream Legabar, etc. or a hatchery hybrid (Olive Eggers, Prairie Bluebell, Starlight Green Egger, Sapphire Olive Egger, Favaucana, Super Blue etc.). Marans (Black Copper) and Welsummers are known for laying dark brown/reddish eggs. If you are looking for a colored egg bantam, I know MyPetChicken has bantam EEs.

That would explain it. I don't know why they told me they were Olive eggers and Easter eggers. One of them I got from Tractors supply and one I got from Nutrena
