Olive Eggers

Hi BiggJohnn!

I have some F2 Olive Egger eggs currently in my incubator that are due to hatch in about a week or two. They are from my F1 olive egger rooster (Black Copper Maran x Araucana) who is rumpless, crossed to my splash maran hens. I also have hatching eggs from them if you'd prefer. I'm located in Miami, so we aren't so far from each other! Let me know if you are interested.

Hi CiaBia,
I’m very interested!! I’m new to olive Eggers! I have been hatching chicks for almost 25 years. Iv’e always just hatched for fun & for eating eggs. A couple years ago our flock got wiped out and I started from new again. Now I’m interested in learning how to breed & keep blood lines. We live on 30acres here in Davie, so I have plenty of room!! Lol. Anyhow, I am very interested in hatching eggs, I have the incubator on now with Black Sumatra’s & Black Japanese Bantams. They’re due to hatch on the 17th, after they hatch I’m going to collect more Sumatra eggs and hatch another round in the incubator. How much would you sell a dozen eggs for? Would you mind if I drove down to pick them up? I’m excited that there’s another chicken person close to us!! Lol. Do you have any pics of your flock, it’s always cool to see other peoples flock!!
Thanks again, hope to talk soon.!!!

I'm actually fairly new to olive eggers as well, lol! This batch hatching out next week will actually be my first one from them, as they just started laying for me. I usually eat the first dozen or so eggs I get from new hens, that way I can check fertility without any waste :)

You are more than welcome to come and pick some eggs up! I had planned to sell my eggs $30 a dozen, is that good for you? The eggs will be brown eggs laid by pure marans (not Olive egg in appearance), but the chicks will lay F2 Olive eggs! If I have my color genetic understanding right, the chicks should hatch out blue, most should inherit the 'beard' and a 50% chance of being rumpless. I can give you an update next week once I have the first few hatch out. I attached pictures of my rooster with his splash maran girlies in the background. I have my breeds separated in pens based on type (I'd love to free range them all, but just don't have the space!). Other breeds I have are Lavender Ameraucana, Frizzled Easter Egger, Frizzled silkie cross, Pure Black/Blue/Splash Copper Marans, and Ayam Cemani.

It sounds like you have a beautiful flock, I only wish I had as much room as you for my chickens!! Though if that were the case, I probably wouldn't stop getting more :lau It's definitely great to see another fellow chicken person in sunny South Florida!!
