Omak Chicken Coop by Dave

Time is getting close AGAIN.... called the breeder and got an extension on picking up my birds....

With Okanogan County going up in flames.... Largest wildfire EVER here.... I got my alfalfa cut and baled.... and the coop and run are filling in my "SPARE" time nicely....

Got a deal on 2x3" 17 ga. wire... it's being laid down, stapled to the footer... and 8x16" pavers laid on that.... the pavers I had... disassembled a poorly designed porch that was here..... Access to the run is down the left side from the door... Also, I put the water jug next to the door for easy access to electrical and filling.... the shelf will come in handy for something.... maybe for holding my coffee in the morning or my beer in the afternoon.... The orange cooler is insulated.... for keeping the water above freezing in the winter and for adding frozen beverage bottles in the summer to keep the water cool.... Temps here run from -5 in the winter to 110 in the summer.... we have all five seasons here.... including windy as heck...

Here is my version of the heated / cooled water system.... I got the idea from a previous mentioned thread.... WHAT A GREAT IDEA.... BTW..... bulkhead fitting, 3/4" installed using 5200 sealant.... cures in water and NEVER comes apart.... so be careful where you put it.... Used a union for aligning the taps and for future "redesign" of the water system.... Closed cell weather strip wrapped around it all.... over wrapped with 20 mil. PVC pipe tape.... trying to keep the chickens from picking at the foam.... We will see if that idea works...
In the bucket are a 250 watt w/ thermostat built in, 110v Bucket Heater...... and a small water pump to keep the water circulating through the pipe (when I get the tubing attached).... In the summer, I shouldn't need the heater or the pump as cold water is heavier than warm and should "sink" to the lower portion of the water / nipple water pipe..... There you have my install.....

NOTICE....... after the tape job, I used Ty-Wraps or what ever they are called now, to secure the PVC tape to keep it from "Unraveling".....

Granite, Egg Shells and Oyster Shell dispensers...... hope they work.....

Removable board for the "Deep Litter" method..... I'm gonna try that.... Curtains for the ladies laying area......
2 roost areas..... The black piece of "rolled stuff" is covering the original "pop" door opening....

Well, I think that's it.... probably some duplicate stuff from a few days back BUT..... I'm tired and a few COLD BEER are calling out for some idiot named Dave.... I've gotta check into that....

NEXT COOP WILL BE TWICE THAT BIG...... JUST SO I CAN GET ALL MY TOOLS IN IT.....

aart, morning.... No... the waterers they were used to had the "cups" .... tap the pin and the cup filled.... I had to get them to know where the water was..... the little white girl was standing next to me as I pushed the pin.... she watched the water run out of the red nipple and drip into the blue cup.... tilted her head like "what is the water doing" ..... then came over and pecked the pin on the red nipple..... she then taught the others where the water was..... the cup was there so they could get water under the water pipe.... all is good now.....
