Trying to avoid corn because of anti-inflametory reasons. Anything besides corn to throw for scratch? and what is good supplemental feeding to increase omega 3 in eggs?

Thanks,
Tea

I have heard that too much omega 3's fed as scratch will give the eggs a fishy taste. You may want to look into that a little bit.
Oh, and

I think the fishy taste comes form fish oil omega 3s. Flax seed or the oil would probably work to raise omega 3s in eggs.

ok, I forgot to mention I am totall newbie BYC chick. whats a BOSS?

Also another newbie, where do you buy fish meal? my Pullets are about 1-2 months from laying age (difference due to breed not just age).

Thanks for the suggestions. Can't help but ask, breed and age are both factors in laying age? Thats good to know. I have a variety of breeds.

I'll ask around for the fish meal free choice.

Ok, my little girls don't care at all for the BOSS>

I did find out that PUrina makes an Omega 3 rich feed. They can be put on at 18 weeks.

Thank Goodness!

Anyone use that feed? notice any improvement in yoke color etc? The brouchure was pretty impressive.

Thanks again,

Tea
