Those are the most commendable. Same job, same risks, no pay.

Alot of volunteer departments have great personnel but what holds them back sometimes is the lack of a tax base to fund good (newer) equipment. Not all but alot. It's the reason they're vol. In the first place. Large municipalities dont have that problem. So thank a vol. They do way more with way less

It’s very true the lack of funding. We are lucky, and have several logging companies in our district. They love the write offs and tax time rolls around we can pretty easily replace worn equipment and buy enough new that we aren’t using chisels and hammers for a vehicle extraction. Hell we even have an AED on the truck and in the wagon.
