Yesterday 5:56 am I have to open the bator to turn the eggs. I read on another thread that the eggs can be out for 30 minutes, but it's quick look and back in. Is this really bad?

No its not bad...open it...turn the eggs...its fine...I open my bator all the time..with no problem...

Yesterday 8:15 pm No, I don't have them in cartons. Should I? The instructions didn't mention cartons. The temp goes down 10 degrees when I turn them, but gets back up to 100 within a minute or two. I won't candle again if someone can tell me that they won't explode. Or how to tell if they might. This is a learning experience, so I guess

Read my answer above about candeling

I love the egg carton idea. Does that keep them horizontal enough?

Will I smell a rotten one through the shell and in time before it explodes?

Has a double yolk ever hatched twins? Sorry, just popped into my brain.

Must go now, the rooster noticed my car is home and is now crowing at the window for me.

If you go up to search and put in egg carton I bet you could find a lot of posts on them. No you don't have to use them it makes it easier for turning and clean up after they all hatch. And yes it does keep them horizontal enough.

I just read where someone tried to hatch a double yolker but it didn't work.
