CityGirlinthe country, have you ever logged on to the ostomy board. I know it is a scary subject and sometimes they discuss things you don't want to hear, but they are compassionate and helpful on that board? A relative recently had a piece of colon removed. Has your doctor ever discussed anything like probiotics? Wonder if they might help. Some people swear by aloe vera juice and health-store yogurt.
Here is the website: www.ostomy.org. Not everybody on there has had an ostomy; some have Crohns and UC.
Thanks, Country Lady!
I actually did follow a Crohns forum for a while, but quite frankly, it was depressing. I prefer to just deal with mine when it rears its ugly head, and for the most part just go on with life. I figure you deal with the cards you are given and deal with life as best you can. Everybody has something and Crohns isn't as bad as it gets. There are a lot of people worse off than I.
I did a probiotics regime for a while. I didn't really see much difference. Dunno why. Crohns is weird in that it affects people differently. What works for one won't work for another. I'm on Remecaid right now and it works like a charm.
Thanks for the link though. I'll go check it out. What was it the public service announcement said, Knowledge is Power?
