Ok, I am new to the bator thing.....and I can not afford to buy one..so I built one. I used a foam box I got from my mother....with a light, and heating pad, as I could not keep the temp up near 100. So, anyways....like I said, I am new to thew bator thing....the eggs I got from my hens...and ducks..were put in there on the 14th. I have turned them about 4 or 5 times a day...and kept humidity and temps at norm. Well.....this evening..I could stand it no longer, so I candled them. Out of the 10 eggs I put in....I saw eyes?? in 4 of them. And they was moving in there......WOW, I am SO EXCITED! What a beautifull thing to witness. I know I have a long way to go....and have to learn to......step away from the bator....but I DO hope these 4 little ones hatch. I am leaving the others in there for about another week, and will candle again to see if there is anything in them. I must be doing something right......right???

Sounds like a good thing!

Deb, You do know that duck eggs take longer than chicken eggs to hatch? The chickens take 21 days to hatch and the duck eggs will take about a week longer. Help out here folks with ducks, How long for duck eggs to hatch?

I saw what I think is a blood ring in one....bummer I will leave it another few days, to make sure....so sad...the little one didnt make it.

OK, so if the duck eggs and chicken eggs, are different hatch times...and I have to UP the humidity on day 20....will that drown my duck eggs?? Did I do a bad thing? I MIGHt be able to make another one...if need be.
