Went for coffee with a friend to our chicken mentors yesterday morning and watched her geese and ducks....and chickens and Turkeys wander ....waddle....around the yard from her kitchen window....
Came away with the thought of going back to pick up an old incubator

...have to buy the thermostate
and wanting GEESE.....

My question ....Can Turkeys(3) and Geese....large size ....(3or4) be house together at night ... and during the long winter nights...?
What about eating the same feed? They'll just be pets ....How big should there house be ? I will add a secure yard but they will probably free range along with the chickens ......thanks so much
Ps ....I will buy a couple ducklings come spring also some turkeys from my chicken mentor ...I have to make my kitchen window bigger ....so I can watch them waddle ...
We also have a pond ....
Please dont tell hubby I am thinking this ....

Well he knows about the incubator ..

No, no, no, you KNOW you want some geese! They are so cool, how could you not??

I don't know about housing them with turkeys, but if the turkeys feed is medicated, you wouldn't want the geese (or ducks) to eat too much of it. My 2 geese are free rangers, so idk how big of a house they'd need. But one of mine has started eyeballing an unused large breed dog house, so I imagine that would work to sleep in

All my poultry run together- chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks and peafowl. They wander in and out of our barn as they want. The geese tend to hang outside more than the others. That's a good thing because the poops are huge !They get along well except sometimes the geese chase the turkeys a bit- no harm is done.....
I feed them all grow and finish pellets.

No, no, no. You NEED geese. You absolutely HAVE to HAVE them! LOL Believe me. I know.

We started off with one lone rooster that someone dumped here. That's all, just one. Now we have ducks, geese, chickens, guineas. No turkeys yet. YET!

You KNOW you NEED geese. Oh, yes you do! They are the sweetest babies. Hatching goose eggs is quite different from other fowl. Make sure you read up on that if you want to go that route.

Now we all get to try and sell you on our favorite breeds.

I have an american and an embden. The american is so docile, even the ducks bully it. The embden takes no crap from NOBODY!! It is also my protector

Bad thing is it tries to protect me from my 5 y/o, that will have to stop. But it's pretty neat when the goose gets between me and my rooster that still thinks he can take me!

Well I probably can get some more chickens in there naturally but a couple big Turks and geese wouldnt be good ...
I am just sure hubby would make me a secure run for them ...we have coy dogs and coons .....but they can free range when I am home ...
My chicken mentors have embden..thats the big tall goose right...?...I was just in a trance watching all of them walk amongst the ducks and chickens under the apple trees in their yard.....also a pot belly pig .....
My chicken mentor will probably hatch out some embden for us and some Turks...and I'll use my incubator for chicken eggs...she doesnt want us to get the incubators until after Christmas because she's afraid she'll cause two divorces...
