Noo of course not! I just thought maybe I didn’t express my fondness of my hens lol.
I don’t want you thinking I have a weird rooster obsession. “Gomez is just learning, and if little pullets have to be sacrificed well too bad!” Lol

It's a gift.....

Or a curse. 🤣
How many roosters to you have? Just Gomez?
Nope. Gomez and Fred. Fred WAS Ethel until a week or so ago. He’s crowing every morning now. He’s only 9 ish weeks old, so he’s the baby. He goes out to play during the day but back inside at night. Gomez and Fred crow back and forth, but other than that Gomez doesn’t really acknowledge Fred. And my other chickens treat him like any other chicken. If it wasn’t for his wattles and crowing I wouldn’t know he’s a rooster. There’s no chest bumping or mating rituals or anything. He’s just Fred.

Found one of my pullets dead on the poop board early one morning, her head and neck dangling over the edge.I suspect one of my cockerels jumped off the roosting bars and mated her soon as she came off the roost. She was likely suffocated or died from a broken neck.I got rid of the cockerel that forced himself on my pullets after that but shouldn't have waited until it came to that.

That’s a terrible story! I’m sad now. I definitely keep an eye on Gomez, especially Morticia. Hopefully he just sticks with his big gals. At least until Morticia grows up and has interest.
