So I am on day 21 of incubating ancona duck eggs...i went for my nightly candle at my last turn of day, and when I was picking up one of my eggs my hand caught the lid of incubator and I dropped it! I feel so bad! It didnt break, but did crack a little right by air sack. I am FREAKING out!!! So I continued to candle to make sure my little one was ok and its moving and looked like it was trying to break into air sack...so what I'm asking is could I have killed it(or possibly die soon)? Or could I have shocked it into early hatching? I don't know what to do!!??:(

Just let it be, it could still be ok. Try not to mess with it to often I wouldn't constantly candle it to see if its ok.

Thank you, I deff wont pick it up again..i did a little research and read about putting candle wax or nail polish over crack...no candles(weird cuz I usually do) so I put a little clear nail polish over crack and I feel a little better. I need to relax but I cant! Lol its so close to hatch im bursting with excitement!

white school glue or white wax from a crayon or candle are best so not to have the fumes from polish.

candling daily is never recommended for any eggs. To much handling can effect final hatch rates.

This is my first incubation and has deff been a learning experience..i know im not the first to be excited, and candle too often. I also know people make mistakes and have accidents . I appreciate all help and advice I have been given. I will not pick my eggs up anymore but will continue to check with flashlight(leaving them in place and bringing light to them instead of bringing them to light) thank you every one!
