WOW.
You guys are all so incredibly kind .
I had no idea what sweet spirits lurked here. But I have never seen a cross word on these boards. Must be "chicken folks" are just REAL.
I have done NOTHING but stand next to my Marine for 19 of his twenty years. HE strapped on the uniform, HE laced his boots, and HE laid in the dirt of a hostile land while I sat at home and raised his babies---studying everything I could get my hands on to learn for THE BIG DAY. So really , I deserve NONE of the excessive kindess...but....
THANK YOU.
The chick inventory -- to total 28 --includes and even mix of:
1. Dominiques, because we visited Williamsburg and they are docile(lets hope) and just plain beautiful.
2. Austrolorps, because all the ones I have ever worked with were great layers even in Northern Virginia snow.
3. Delawares, because I understand they are a good multipurpose bird (but maybe I have forgotten exactly WHY I chose them....????) Egg laying?
4. Easter Eggers, because (at least sixteen years ago) I remember seeing Martha Stewart's (gag!) exotic birds that laid those miraculous blue eggs and thus began my love affair with chickens to begin with. I dont care if they never lay but two eggs a year, I was GOING to have a couple of those.
Thank y'all again for your kind welcome.
