It finally came!!!! I felt like it would never happen! We came home tonight to this beauty!!! Last Saturday we found out we are expecting our precious third baby, and I'm pretty sure I didn't scream as loud as I did when I found our first egg. Hahaha!!!! What an exciting week for us!!

One thing I noticed about your egg, is, it is on wood shavings.. IT IS FINE , but I am just curious why you don't opt for hay in your nesting box ???

WISHING YOU BEST

Actually...we wanted to put straw in the nesting boxes but our Home Depot's was moldy, and Lowes didn't have any. So we put shavings in there in the meantime. We need to go back and see if they've gotten a shipment. :-)

I just throw wood shavings from the floor in there. The nest box lower lip keeps the level of chips high enough. I originally had planned on using hay, but I never did and now I can't think of any reason to bother with it. One less thing to worry about.

We started with wood shavings and then added straw. The girls much prefer the straw because they enjoy moving and rearranging it.

I'm with you on this. It makes a neater nest as well.. I use hay because it is also eatable for the girls , and less dusty than straw. Don't misunderstand me. """ straw is OK as well. """ For the extra $2 per bale of hay vs straw. I choose hay. Also smells much more pleasant. ( to me anyways. )

AND ELSWEET.....
