Yes, Dawn dish soap is best for working on cats. You have to bear in mind that cats lick anything and everything, and those chemicals should not be licked. If they get a bit of leftover Dawn dish soap, it won't harm them. Wildlife rehabbers the world over use it for wild animals caught in oil slicks.
