Omigoodness

Another thing, is the pen they were in open-topped? Even if you clip their wings, you are bound to lose some. Just because they can't fly out, doesn't mean something can't fly in.

My chicken dog guards them

Clipping one wing bad idea, they have no control ,and can get hurt.

I alway when clipping. Do both wings, Clip all outside flights except two outside flights.(then the birds dont looked clipped. clip 10 feathers each side, Guarantee they will not be able to fly high.

Clipped hundred of birds, quail to large parrots. Something scares the bird with one wing clipped, they will fly into walls and etc, no CONTROL.

That is how I clip my ducks but I only clip one wing & leave the three outside feathers. They cant even come off the ground like that.

Lot I guess would be what type of bird, most waterfowl they do just one wing.(not much danger of then flying into a wall or side of a pen.

Do that with pheasant, and etc asking for trouble. Take a high dollar Parrot, seen then try to fly clipped, into the wall,or other objects.

Never a danger in doing both. Just the way i do it and why.
