On day 17 of my incubator and heat went to 105, are my chicks dead?

I turned my eggs and went to work, bator was on 100, got home and it was 105, so no idea how long it was that high, I was gone 6 hours. Afraid my chicks might not hatch

I had a similar problem at day 10. Mine went up to 106. I checked them and still saw movement so I have high hopes at least a few will hatch. I'm not sure how long the temp was high. At least a few hours. (3-5 hours). I hit day 19 tomorrow and they'll be taken off the rotating thing.

Just a small update: one chick hatched this morning and is completly dry and LOUD. One egg has a hole on the shell and I'm guessing it will hatch before morning if it makes it. I had one pip yesterday and had a bunch of yellow fluid come out...it isn't alive anymore and is still in the bator...I should probably remove later but I want to let the rest hatch. Of the 12, 9 made it in the incubator, 1 is dead, 1 hatched, and the at least 2 more are moving. The three that didn't make it in the incubator made it only to day 3 or 4..if any since one is very clear under the candle.

Thanks for asking Friday Morning there were 6 chicks alive and well, 3 more Saturday, 2 Sunday and one more this morning! Another shell is cracking, today is day 24!

this is very encouraging... I just started eggs Sunday afternoon. Monday night the power went off. I wasn't too worried, but after 3 hours I tossed in some of those handwarmer packets in hopes that would keep things a bit warmer overnight, and went to bed... power came back on around midnight, & I slept through it. woke up at 6am and went to the basement & the high temp alarm was going nuts.... it was 105 in there by the thermometers, and the digital one w/a memory said it was up to 112 at one point. I have no idea for how long! I am guessing when the fan came on they got some serious oxygen to the handwarmers and they made way more heat than I thought they would. the package says they can go up to 150, but I didn't expect 3 little packets to heat the whole 'bator up that much. they don't warm my pockets up THAT much!!! (then again, my pockets don't get that much air in them)

If the eggs actually got up to 112 I don't have much hope, but if that was only the air temp and the eggs didn't get so hot, I guess there's possibility they might still hatch... I'll candle them around a week and see if anything's going on. fingers crossed and all.
