While I love having my chickens and am very excited about chicken-TV....I don't name them, pet them, or pick them up. They come when called and know I'm the food lady. They don't freak out too bad about being handled when I absolutely have to.

I recently added a young rooster to my flock of layers. I have read so much on here about mean/bad roosters I have probably been over critical.

He is about 5 months old and has been with the hens for about 2 weeks now. Today was the first time I've let them out in the yard. The good news is he is terrified of his hens.....terrified of me.....but fluffed up at a stray cat. YAY!!!!!!
