How do you get certified on certain native quail and other types?

It depends on where you live. In SD you go to the state website and fill out a form. It’s free unless you want to release birds to the wild or sell/give them away. Otherwise I think it’s, like, $100/year (if I remember correctly). Each state will be different. Try your state’s website.

How do you get certified on certain native quail and other types?

In Texas, I obtained my permit (Breeders License) through Texas Parks and Recreation. Under 1,000 birds $27.00 a year. Took about a month to complete whole process. Well worth it!
