Surely winning a coop is an omen that chickens should come next.

Thanks again for the support everyone. We ended up with 1 Buff Orpington and 1 Easter Egger. Our BO just started laying over a week ago at 6.5 months old. Not surprising with the cold weather we had for a while in Colorado. Our EE just started squatting so I'm checking the yard every day for her eggs. Very exciting and our 2 year old is having a blast looking for the egg each day. I put a golf ball in their nest after we found the first couple eggs on the ground in the coup. Our BO started laying in the nest the next day. Pretty smart!

I know there are several places around Denver. I've personally looked at Murdoch's in Parker, Parker Feed and Elizabeth Country Corner. I decided on Elizabeth Country Corner because they have a good listing of what breeds they are getting in (they already have chicks), allowed me to put in reservations for which breeds I wanted, and sold almost 10 thousand chicks last year.

Parker Murdoch's have their list available in the store. The gal in charge if the orders works on Sunday's and another day. I know Murdoch's get their chick from Murray McMurray and Welp hatcheries. Murdoch's is also getting a lot of chicken supplies in and should run sales soon.
This is my 1st year to keep chicks as well.
