We went on vacation for a long weekend. We instructed our daughter on how to feed and collect the eggs. We have 8 hens but only 3 are layers at this point. We were gone 4 days. When I got home last night there were 3 eggs in the coop (but it was dark so I only went to the normal spot). This am when I went into the coop there were 6 more eggs - all in a bunch - in the totally exact opposite corner of where they had been laying - under the perch - and covered in poop. Since I have NO clue when these eggs could have been laid - They could be from Friday, Saturday or Sunday - how long are they good for? I put them in the fridge but seperated them from my "known good" eggs. Thanks for the help!

I am not sure on time they are good for. Alot will depend on the amount of heat that you have been experiencing in your area. I have heard that a fresh egg will sink in water and a rotten one will float. I remember seeing my grandmother doing this with all the eggs she collected. There has to be something behind that!! I have never tried this with a rotten egg but, fresh ones do sink!!

I guess I was just afraid they would be "a little bad"... I guess that's the same as being a lil dead. LOL Thanks for responding... I guess I'll be floatin... LOL
