morning light is always best, they can harm them selves if there not on the roost when the lights go off at night. I feed my girls lots of protein while molting, my girls are coming through it great and I will be adding christmas lights also to the coop ( out side windows on a timer so it lights the coop at 4:00 in the morning ) I plan to keep my brooder as she is a wonderful mommy, and give the other 3 older girls away and start with more pullets. I love getting eggs and filling up the cartons, I give my excess to my elderly neighbors. they love them.
