Ondura Roof Panel Question

What a timely post! Great info here, especially since I just scored 15 sheets of Ondura for $40!! A couple have dings or small holes, but since it will be going over plywood, it won't even be noticeable...

I never cease to be amazed by what I learn lurking around here

Thanks, BYC folks!

Oh Yeah, GREAT COOPS!!

I considered ondura on plywood but went with corrugated metal on plywood to shave a bit of cost (due to the size of ondura sheets and the layout of my roof). Same issue, though...the openings. I decided that I didn't want to eventually deal with wasps so I bought some of that spray-in insulating foam. I bought the low expansion version, and it worked well.

I am going to do the roof of my 4x4 coop with a sheet of plywood and Ondura roof panel. Do I need to get the closure things with the plywood underneath?
Absolutely, use the foam strips at peak and lower roof edge to block insects and particularly birds. Otherwise those critters can create a mess inside your enclosure.
I've had ondura on a pole barn for 20 years. For the past 6-8 years I've had to make repairs were nails have loosened up using caulk, etc. I don't think I'd use it again on a habitable building, but for ag bldgs., it's a great inexpensive choice.
Don't install where trees are nearby, falling branches will penetrate these panels.
