Okay I saw this happen at my friends all the Jersey Giants packed together for quiet awhile up until recently when the 4th remaining hen of the original batch of 10 was taken out by a bird. Once there was only three left this behavior stopped.
They where merciless to the other breeds in the flock picked on them. Now they have more individual personality traits and actually pay attention to me when I come into the pen, before they'd just run away from me, ignore me and never make eye contact. They don't runway from me like they use too either. None of the other hens behaved like this... other then the group of Jersey Giant hens and it puzzles me to why.
The roo is the same breed but never behaved in the same manner with me. Honestly I think he figured out rather fast
