One of my 2 week old australorps was sneezing while I was holding her. She only sneezed a couple of times and I haven't noticed any other symptoms. None of the other birds are sneezing like this, or at least not to the extent I would notice. I had just been handling my dog and cat, could that be why? I just didn't know if there was anything to worry about or something I should be doing...
Thanks.

Hi,

I have 6 10 week olds and one eight week old. I use to worry when they would sneeze, but I stopped. My feeling is as long as they're holding their wings up high, eating and drinking well with clear bright eyes and no mucus discharge from their nostrils, that they are fine. Their food and bedding creates so much dust, that sometimes, I sneeze. Not to mention "chick dust" which is created from their droppings.

Thanks!
Well, I haven't noticed her sneezing in the brooder, just in my hands. I had just been handling my dog and cat so I thought that might be why. My cat has really fine long hair that might have been bothering the chick. Or dandruff dust or something.

As long as it isn't frequently happening, and the chicks look otherwise healthy, there is nothing to worry about when a chick occasionally sneezes.
