One chicken in flock roosts in tree. Why?

So, I have three chickens about 9 weeks old. When it's time to go to bed, two of the chickens walk right into the coop and the third flys into a tree. The roosting chicken sits on a tree branch slightly above/near the coop. I clipped the wing of the chicken, but she/he's crafty and make a jump for it.

Why does my chicken do this? Is this a characteristic of a male chicken?

because it is natural for them to roost in trees! also, the higher they roost, the higher they are on the peck order.

no prob. well, as they get older, the peck order will get more in order.
snuggling will rearrange too as they get closer to laying.
