So I am new to the chicken industry. We bought 4 Buff Opringtons in Feb, they were born Feb 14th (makes my life easy). I got my first egg on July 25th (the day I became a US citizen, another easy remember) But I think I have one that is not laying, when I go to pick up my girls to sit on my knee. All but one does the old squat down, so I am thinking Baby, that's her name is the one not laying. Will she eventually lay or not, my hubby said she might be off to the BQ, but I have told him what to do with that idea. (haha) Love my girls, I think I am now the crazy chicken lady. Help with any ideas. Thanks
Hi and from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. If you are positive it is a hen and not a roo, just give her more time. Some breeds take longer to start laying.
from Oklahoma! I'd give her a little more time. Some birds are just on their own schedule. Of course she could be laying. Not all chickens lay an egg every day so she may be laying one day and one of the others doesn't lay that day. We have 14 pullets but somedays we get 4 eggs and other days we get 16 eggs.
