The past two nights, I have noticed one of my rhode island reds is not roosting. she just sits in the corner. When I shine light in the coop, she walks and kind of checks out the roost and the other 4 that are on it but wont get up. I've put her up there the past two nights and she seems to stay.

Just thought it was odd. Could she have an injured wing possibly...or could it be another reason? All 5 of my chicks appear to be 100% healthy...eating, drinking, pooping, running all over the place...living a normal chicken life...

Just looking for some opinions.

Thanks

Hi, how old are the chickens? if they are young they will not roost for a while.
they are 12 weeks. As far as I know, they always roost. Before I leave for work every morning, I open the coop door and peek in the coop and they are usually all roosted, still sleeping. Just seems odd that the same one, two nights in a row, isn't roosting.

She could very well have an injured wing. If all the others are the same age and roosting.. good luck. But she gets down in the morning after you put her up there.

Post pics of your coop, inside and out, please?

So some questions come to mind.
How much roost space? If they are cramped the chicken at the bottom of the pecking order may not be allowed to roost.
How high are the roosts? If a large distance she may have injured herself on a bad landing.
Is she broody? Nesting at night might be an idicator.

All great points. My Broody girl sleeps on the nest.
