One day old chicks and DE

Can I use DE in my coop with new hatchlings? I think my chickens have mites. What does DE stand for?

My feed store gave me Prozap garden and poultry dust when I bought some chicks that had mites at 4 days old. It contains permethrin. They said to put it on your finger and rub it into the down of the chick. So hope this helps you!

Oh and I think! (correct me if i'm wrong) DE stands for diemethylcycloprapanecarboxylate

I have been using codex food grade DE since our chicks were only 2 weeks old and have had no issues..
hope your chicks get better...
