Our neighbor was forclosed on (thank goodness the druggies are gone!!!!) but she just turned 2 of her cats loose

So of course they come over to the barn and mouse, I like cats, have had cats but I don't want strange almost wild cats in my barn around my chickens! Besides we have Jack Russells and they have almost caught the cats a couple of times, which is only going to end horribly for the cats.

So I borrow a trap from Animal Control and caught one last night, he is not a happy kitty , I held the trap up to a dog crate and opened it and he went in the crate, so I re-set the trap and I hope I catch the other one tonight so they can both go to the SHelter tomorrow, at least there they wont have to hunt for food and they have a chance.

Good luck.
Make sure you put some kind of food in it . If you can not get it with trap in the cleard try to camo it into landscape and put more food into it.
Hear kitty kitty.

These were house cats and not used to hunting so one small can of Kitty food was all it took and the trap is out in the open, apparently they aren't the brightest kitties either.

Good for you. I just had one that killed 2 of my chickens.

My neighbor was lucky today. His pit got loose and was in my yard. He came around the corner of my house just as I had sited the dog on my 22 when he ran in front of it screaming like a girl. He got it 1 warning.

I honestly feel sorry for these poor cats. I can imagine being a house cat, never having to worry about food and then Boom, out into the cold world and fend for yourself. THe one I caught is not at all happy but at least tomorrow it will be safe and have food and shelter, hopefully they can find it a home, but if not it is better than starving to death or being killed by dogs.

I know what you mean. The one I caught had been a stray for years. He wasn't even afraid of my dog. We caught him in a trap but he was crazy. I took him to my vet who put him down. And then I brought him home and buried him in a nice sunny spot.

Hi Lockedhearts, Hope to meet you in the spring. I have a female cat , part bobcat, that has the best mouser kittens we breed with a male Simease[spelling?] . So i have to get rid of lots of kittie daddy's. Coyotemajic-- i take my hat off to you on that 1- 22 warning shot with the pit . My neighbor has a pit also and he has had his 1 warning shot.

Just wanted to say how wonderful you are in taking responsibility for those cats. I have had issues with dumped and feral cats in my area for years. One neighbour continues to feed them despite the local council telling her not to. Numerous other neighbours have been supplied traps to try to reduce numbers. Most of the cats are mangy looking thin and fight alot at night.

Glad you are rid of the neighbours though...sounds like dealing with their abandoned cats will be easier than living with neighbours like that.

No new cats last night, so gonna haul the one to Animal Control and give it a couple more days on the trap.
