Hello. Im new here, ive raised chickens and ducks for 8 years now, i had 2 ducklings 1 became sick and couldnt walk i kept treating it for niacin deficiency but it just wouldnt get better so now i am left with 1 duck. He seems healthy. I also have 13 chicks the same age, should i move my duck in with my chicks or does my duck need another duck? Im so sad about my other duckling, i just couldnt save it.

Sorry about your duckling not making it. Just from what I have read from the experienced duck parents on here it is my opinion that you should try to find another duckling around the same age and size. They get so lonely! That is unless the duckling can be a house duck and be with the humans. I know there are differing opinions on everything so I wish you the best of luck. I hope you get another duckling. Oh and where the heck are the pics?

It is a 4week old peking, i dont know what it is. I may be getting 2-3 ducks but they are 1 yr old, would that be ok?

:welcomeYou can’t put a 4 week old Pekin in with adult ducks they have to meet and get use to each other first. Since your Pekin is just 4 weeks old and probably not feathered in enough to be outside yet any way this would be the time to get your new ducks and let them settle in then on warm days take your Pekin out for meet an greet. You’ll be there to supervise and hopefully by a week or two they will be ready to be a flock. What breeds and sex are the ones your getting?

All female is awesome just in case your young Pekin is a drake. Just do it the same way give them time to get to know each other . Hope your friends mil recovers well from her surgery!
