One egg per day?

Are Coturnix quail limited to one egg per day?

I have 10 mature quail, and get between 8 and 10 eggs each day. And usually, they are laying between 5 and 7pm each day.

I got 11 eggs today.

Sometimes a bird will lay a second egg in a day but it's rare. there's a good chance it was stuck in traffic since yesterday.

I usually get an egg a day. Occasionally, I will get an extra egg, and once in a while just short an egg, and then the missing egg shows up the next morning. My quail also seem to lay late in the day. I get them when I go out to give a late day salad and be sure food and water are good for the night.

My quail are not old enough yet- but I have a friend with a pair of hens that will lay 2-4 eggs a day!

Your friend is not collecting eggs daily.
They do not regularly lay more than one egg in a 24-hour period.

K, 3 is probably stretching it, but a young healthy quail hen can totally lay 2 a day. I've had chickens do it before too.

Not with hens, I've had chickens for 3 years and it's happened 2 or 3 times that I can remember.
