My 19 month old EE hasn't laid in a while. she was always sporadic, but since I like her, we keep her.

Today I found her sitting on a HUGE egg, shrink wrapped in another soft egg shell. I tried to lift her off the nest (she was looking a bit sad), and her upper chest felt a bit mooshy.

she still has color, I'm not sure if she;s eating.

Is this a calcium thing, or is she laying internally?

ETA, I've found shells in the coop that resemble leathery snake eggs. I added come oyster shell to the feed (they had access to it already) a few days ago. Now this.

Tonight she was roosting with everyone else.

I have no idea what that could be, but I always think separating one that is feeling bad is a good idea.
Sure hope someone can help you and I hope your girl gets better!

find a better source of calcium. Oyster shell is okay but not metabolized well. You can use crushed limestone fine ( the smaller pieces and dust) or microwave and crush your used eggshells and "recycle" them to your girls.

No egg today, but she's acting perky. I got a better feel of her belly, and the moosh was just feathers.

I'll give her some plain yogurt tomorrow. I think she may be cranking up to start laying again. She laid her first egg nearly a year ago exactly, then nothing after her molt.
