ONE EGG STARTING but how long does it take

I have been glued to my incubator all day one of the eggs on day 20 now has a little crack in it , I have been watching all afternoon but can't see any more change is this normal ?how long does it take?
Do I just need to chill out ?
I am so impatient, as you can tell this is my first hatch, second attempt am down to 7 out of 14

LOL, I did that, too. Get on with your life, it could take 24 hours or more!

Yup..it will drive you mad ! I waited 36 hours for one of mine....only 4 hours for another.............nearly made me insane.....OH wait.we already are insane !

The crack in the egg shell is called a pip...it can take up to 24 hours for the chick to get out of the shell...just have patience and watch!...

I suggest a trip to the next DQ or ice cream parlor for some chilling and calming your nerves down.

And what ever you do, resist the temptation to open that bator. You need the humidity in there now.

i agree, the trick is to walk away and do something else for awhile. the chick knows when you are staring at the egg and will taunt you by remaining perfectly still

seriously, it takes awhile. once it starts to "zip" out (that's when the chick chips away in a line around the egg in order to pop out) it should go much faster and THAT'S fun to watch.

good luck with your hatch, it seemed to go faster for me after the first one was out and walking around , because all the other ones must have felt the need to get out and get on in the fun too.
