Hello! Just became hen parents for the first time on the weekend. One of the girls, a silver Sussex, is missing the front of her foot (she was injured at her previous owner's and returned to the chicken breeder). She gets around well on her little drumstick. The biggest problem is that she can't roost. I've been checking on the chooks after nightfall and she tucks herself between the feed barrel and a bucket on the floor. Should I be concerned about her sleeping on the floor? Should we build her an adapted roost of some sort? Any help would be great, thanks.

Keep her sleeping area dry and clean (they poop as they sleep), and there is no reason she can not be allowed to sleep on the floor. She might use a slightly raised platform, but I don't think that is really necessary.
