so i got a call for a duckling... and well it turns out to be a canadian goose... i live in new york state. is it illegal to keep as a pet?!

It does look like a little canadian to me..But could still be a different breed. Where did it come from- as in was the person who called you the one who incubated the egg- or did they find the gosling somewhere.

they found it somewhere. they said that there was a ton of dead babies around that one. something ate them all but that one. its had a traumatic day

You caught it and took it out of the wild? You can't keep it, it's protected on te MBTA of 1918. Call your local wildlife recscue.

excuse me duckling 1234. i am a licensed rehab specialist for mammals. i am allowed to have this one. it was brought in by the police. since i am a specialist in mammals i was turning to byc for identification. thank you.

WOOOOOAAAA DEEP BREATH please! And sounds like you did everything right based on the situation. And you are a permited wildlife rehaber shouldn't be an issue. Lets see leave the goose alone....to die. Or bring it "OUT OF THE WILD" into a warm...dry...home where it has food and water....hmmmm what to do.
