One gosling? HELP!

Hey everyone!

i am new to having geese as pets and was having a good run at it until one of my goslings was killed in the pen : * (. My other little girl is beside herself and is clearly distressed... should i get another one? can on do just fine alone? If i get another one.. should she be around the same age?

Waterfowl in particular thrive in company. You need some sort of buddy for your gosling. It could even be a duck of similar size. I raised a gosling alone this spring. She did okay in her brooder alone as long as she could see into the duckling brooder and chat with them. I couldn't put them in the same tub, though, because the gosling was so much older/bigger and would peck. She would tug my pant leg for attention whenever I came near and would follow me like a puppy. I was glad to find her a home where she could have buddies her size to grow up with.

Get another gosling around the same age to keep your girl company. Geese are miserable on their own.

My gosling is lone goose in the house, but that means he's with me all the time - and I do mean ALL the time. If I need to go somewhere where I can't bring him, I get a friend to goosesit him. He even sleeps in my bed. He's seven weeks old now, so last night I thought I would try to keep him on the floor. He tried to sleep standing up, with his head on the mattress and his beak tucked under my blanket, poor little thing. 10 seconds later he was back in the bed!

I got a gosling and a duckling together in the end of june, the gosling died 2 days ago. I got a new gosling (much bigger!!!) today... i let it out to meet the duckling.. the gosling was THRILLED to see another waterfowl thing, and chased that poor duckling all over... just wanting to be CLOSE... i think you need to get it a friend!!!
