I'm sure I can find the answer by searching but hope that you all will offer advice to a completely neohpile.
My Guinea hen has been sitting under a pile of stacked wood on 22 eggs for ~ 4 weeks. This morning she emerged with one hatchling. Truth be told, I can't tell yet if it is a keet or a chick. The Guinea hen and cock are VERY proud of their new baby and have been busy all day escorting him/her around. The hen has not returned to her nest and now I'm wondering what to do with the remaining eggs. I never candled them so don't know if any were viable when she left the nest this morning. Should I bring them inside and put them under a heating pad or lamp?
Also, what should I do with mama guinea and keet tonight - should I leave her to take care of her baby? My chickens and guineas are free ranging and go into their hen house at night. I'm not sure the keet will be able to step up into the pen. I would rather not disturb her mothering if I don't have to. We have a donkey and Great Pyrenees dog that are out all night which seems to keep the predators (foxes, coyotes, raccoons, etc away. Thanks everyone for your advice!
