I hope this is the right place to post. I had four silkies and two got killed by a raccoon in my old run. They are about 7 weeks old right now. I did a DNA test for each of the two remaining and I have one boy and one girl (which is exactly what I thought they were). I am thinking to keep the two and when they are older I can have the girl hatch chicks to get more. I feel like the age gap to get more is too wide now. Would the rooster be okay around the babies if its just them and the girl hen? I really only wanted girls but the boy had its wing ripped off by said raccoon and I have a lot of money into him after I took him to the vet to get treated and dont feel like I can get rid of him for that fact plus I have attachment issues. Added their pics just to show them off :) blue is boy and black is girl

Well, the age different isn't really that large, it will only get larger if you wait for the female to possibly go broody
Would it be hard to incorporate chicks with the two I have if I got new week old silkies? Also, I thought it might be nice to hatch chicks to have that experience and don't want to try in an incubator in case I mess up and hurt a chick or do something wrong accidently and it doesnt hatch right or something. I cannot even imagine culling any. I see my new silkies as pets mostly and get real attached.
