One hen dead and another very sick. Definitely gape worm

Gapeworm is highly unlikely.
A respiratory disease making it difficult for her to breathe is much more likely.

This is my girl just a few hours before that morning she died. Gaping and gasping for each breath. Never had any discharge anywhere at all.

My Plymouth blues all got sick this spring, never any discharge, they were coughing, sneezing, shaking their heads and a rattle in their lungs. I used nutri drench, grubs, diffused eucalyptus essential oil, and also used hot air humidifier. They all got over the virus, however two developed salpingitis. I've been trying to treat for months but it looks like I'll need to cull them.

Very beautiful girl. Was she a blue Andalusian? I had a blue Andalusian who died the same way this past June 2022. Her name was Penny & I really miss her friendly curiosity. We live in the north woods of MN so I was thinking gapeworm also, but everyone says it’s so uncommon. I have since had another one die & have a sick one hanging in there Right now. At first I thought is was CRD, then sour crop. Treated for both with no success so I am going with my initial gut instinct & deworming her with safe-guard goat (on day 2 right now). She has had watery diarrhea for 2 weeks now & when she bends over she vomits clear liquid from her beak. Did you ever find out if yours had gapeworm?

Did you receive the antibiotics you mentioned ordering a while back?

The OP hasn't been back online since she started this thread so I doubt we will get an update but it was highly unlikely that the bird was suffering from gape worm.
