This is our second year with four hens that have a nice coop and run. Everything has been going great until the last few weeks. One of the Rhode Island Red stays up in the coop all day unless we come out to visit. Wondering if she is sick or just playing "king of the coop". We have 2-Rhode Island and 2-Black Sexlink.

Your hen could be broody. Check and see if she is sitting on any eggs. If she is, then she is trying to hatch them. To cure your hen of her broodiness, isolate her from the coop for two to three days.

I have a camera in my coop so I have been checking it often, most of the time she is up on the roosting 2x4 or in the poop tray. Have not found her sitting on any eggs yet.

So bird is probably about 18 months old?
I'm assuming that you got them as chicks spring of 2014 and you live in the northern hemisphere.

They could be getting ready to molt, they can act a little sick when they are molting as it takes a lot of energy to grow new feathers. Add some high protein treats.

Have you checked her over for external parasites?
How do her poops look?
Is she eating and drinking?

We live in the Midwest. It appears she may be getting bullied by two of the other hens. This morning I took her down to put her in the run, she got attacked and went back into the coop. Not sure what to do. I have added an extra run area about a month ago so they have plenty of room.
