I got my first two chickens. I havnt build any nesting boxes yet. Picture if you will a 4 foot by 2.5 foot box with a roof, little door and about 2.5 feet high. It's on stilts about 3 feet off ground. The chickens have no problem going in and out, it's got cedar and straw bedding. I got one egg day one and none since, about 5 days now. Do I need to build seperate nesting boxes or will they do okay in this set ip

Okay I'll attach a couple nesting boxes to the outside, this coop is inside a 10x10 dog run. I had extra run so I decided I'd use it

Use pine chips instead of cedar. I've heard they are better for the chickens. Nesting boxes are easy. Just find some kind of cozy box for them. Some of my chickens like to nest alone and some cuddle up. Whenever I get new chickens they seem to produce an egg or two and then go on strike for a week or so, until they get comfortable.

That's what has happened and I wonder if it's due to lack of nesting box. Right now it's just two chickens in a 2x3 box type coop

I use a Rubbermaid as a nesting box. They like it. It's one of the shorter side ones. Maybe 6" tall.

Hmm so I don't need a fancy "addition" coming off the sode
