I have my other breeds picked out, but i was thinking about which of these four breeds I should pick. Which lays most in your opinion? Which do you generally like best or think is the best quality? I feel like the last two hybrids are not quite as good as the first two, but i dont really know. What do you think?:idunno

Isa browns and golden comets are basically the same thing, red sex links, cross between a red rooster and white hen, usually a rhode island red roo and a white plymoth rock hen. These chicken usually lay a lot of eggs their first 2 years of laying, about 300 to 330 as an estimate. They burn out after those 2 years and don't lay much and are prone to reproductive issues. The first 2 breeds, leghorn and australorps are pure breeds, not hybrids. The leghorns will lay a lot as well about 280-320 eggs per year. Not sure if they will lay like this forever, every chicken won't lay as often is she reaches her 3 or forth year. Australorps lay about 250 eggs per year, not everyday, maybe about 3 to 5 days of the week. Of course egg laying depends on the strain of that breed and its genetics. What are you looking for? Do you want a lot of eggs for 2 years, then cull the red sex links if you want to utilize egg production, or do you want a heritage breed that won't lay as much as an hybrid, but lay for longer? It is up to you. Brown leghorns also lay white eggs and the other 3 lay brown if you want to know.

I'm just a backyard chicken fan, I'm looking for a breed that just lays lots of eggs as a plus. But if the red sex links kinda burn out after two years, I would choose one of the other two. I sort of want an Australorp because they're related to the buff orpington which is supposed to be a really nice chicken. Are the australorps similar to the orpington in temperament?

They are sweet and docile. I don't know if they are related but they are similar, big and sweet. Have fun with your chickens!
