While I was busy collecting eggs I noticed my barn cat in the loft and thought when I heard noise she was stalking a bird.. nope, she was busy looking down so looked to see what had her attention when I saw Liza my Schipperke (13 lbs of fierce rat killer) drag a HUGE rat from under the brooder and effeciently kill it. There we were, Liza trotting off for the house with this huge dead rat dangling from her jaws (almost as big as her) me in hot pursuit with my hands full of eggs telling her to drop it and my husband bringing up the rear wanting to know what happened. Needless to say she was very proud of herself and dropped it for all to admire. She did suffer a small wound to the lip but is fine now. That was one very well fed varmit. Husband buried it out back and we told her what a good dog she was. This is her 3rd kill.

Considering she's a prissy, city, show dog she has transitioned to "farm dog" really well.. Now Bear, her partner in crime sleeps through it all unless is's a find of cat food

My Cochin hen is fascinated by her and will follow her around the yard while Liza only wants to score on the chicken scrap eating LOL! They eat nose to nose ...

Funny how things go.. I grew up with Dobe's as well and before we lost our Dobe Tasha when the boys were small we added our first Schipp.
