I made the choice to let Bob, my BJG, go. Not only did I have to (no roosters allowed) but I honestly didn't want to deal with the noise and the mating he would do with my 11 hens. I had/have ordered a rooster collar - it hasn't arrived yet but as I thought about something @aart said on a post last week - a good chicken keeper knows when a chicken doesn't fit their flock, I knew he was right. I wanted to "save" Bob but it was best to let him go. He's at a neighbor's farm where he can crow as loud as he wants and will have a ton of girlfriends when he's old enough to "date"

Stilo worried I'll be down another in a month or so. I feel like my Brahma is a boy, too. My neighbor doesn't need any more roosters ...

I'm confused, you can't have a rooster but your neighbor can? Is the farm somewhere else?
Unless you buy pullets near point of lay then you're going to continue to run the risk of getting more cockerels. Learn to process and eat them or maybe buy older birds if you have to/want to get more.

Neighbors are about three miles down the road and land is considered ag. It's just the way it is here. 😔

I understand :hugs Maybe that neighbor knows someone who could take him? Have you posted a pic of the one you're worried about to get opinions?

I have and got a few responses that it's a girl but a few questioned that it was a boy so still confused. Thought by 12 weeks it's be a little easier to tell - sure was apparent with my BJG - showed signs at 5 weeks ... Maybe I'll post again? I need a Brahma expert ...

Definitely post again. Sometimes they can be tricky little buggars.
