If you intend to keep it, you will need to feed it a gamebird feed ration of 24% protein. If you intend to get it a companion, you will need to have an enclosure of at least 100 sq.ft. You will need to look into getting a permit to keep them, almost all states have regulations/permits regarding the keeping of gamebirds. Contact your state's Wildlife department or Natural Resources department to find out about which permit(s) you will need to keep your birds.

Hope you enjoy your time here! 😊

You need to find a real wildlife rehabilitation center. Unfortunately, you can't keep him but certainly don't release him.
I don't trust wildlife rehabs. They'll probably want to release him and let him take his chances. The one I contacted said they couldn't help. I've had him for over three months. He's healed and is doing well. I'm thinking of trying a farm rescue. I just want a better life for him and some friends of his own kind.

I've gotten wild gamebird feed from a feed store I deal with. I also give him spinach which he loves, different berries and meal worms. Someone I contacted said as long as I'm not breeding them and selling them or using him as a show bird, it's okay If I would just want to keep a couple of birds I'd be fine too.
