Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

Thanks everyone. I'll take the advice and be patient for a while longer. I think I can get a large crate to put next to her coop and see if that works.

very sweet - nice to hear from the other side. I love chickens so I'll continue to keep my chin up and continue on.

Welcome to BYC!!! Sorry to hear about your flock... but we are here to encourage you along!!!

i agree with the above advice about putting the babies in a separate screened or chicken wired off area where they can see each other without being picked on. at 5 weeks old, i took the babies out of the brooder and put them in a pen down at ground level so they could get to know each other

i put these little doors on the pen doors when i built it. at 6 weeks old i opened the doors and put a couple of blocks with a piece of plywood on top to give them a shelter to run back to safety if they started getting picked on

slowly they started peeking there little heads out and started exploring thier new coop at 6 + weeks old. they turn 8 weeks old today and they have been out funning and frolicking in the coop and chicken yard for a few days now with out getting picked on by the grown ups

i am doing the same thing with my baby bo's

Excellent. Thanks so much. My husband will be happy once they can be together as I have turned our screened porch into somewhat of a temporary coop :-)

One more question about this. Is it ok for the younger ones to eat the laying feed? I'm not sure how I could feed them separately.
