One new chick

Hi all!

I had my first semi successful hatch today. I say semi successful because I started off with loads of eggs but because of humidity issues, only one actually made it. The humidity in the incubator is quite high so she/he is struggling to dry and fluff. With there being only one chick, is there any reason to keep it in the incubator or can I move it to the broader straight away? It's about 12 hours old now.

If there are definitely no more viable eggs then you can move it to the brooder. Do you plan to brood it alone? Chicks get very lonely on their own.

I know. I feel so sorry for it. I'm away this weekend but thinking of getting some day olds if I can find any for Monday and then they can join this one. Would that work?

Place a thermometer in your brooder and adjust the height of the lamp accordingly. Also make sure there is a cool end to escape to.

Yes it would be fine to get some day olds next week to keep it company. I hope your little chick thrives!
